Calypso

This years Calypso Beans were harvested a while ago..... we just finally got around to getting them shelled!

Harvest total was 5 lbs.
This Heirloom Calypso Bean has always been an All Star in our garden, we look forward to growing this bean, for years to come!

Our beans were sourced from Seed Savers Exchange

Looking at the price per pound now.... I am thankful to have started saving my seeds years ago ;-)

I spy........ Beans!

It sure didn't take long for the October Beans to pop up and stand to attention, after they were soaked and  pre sprouted 18 days ago.

Soaking Beans

During Memorial weekend, we were able to get our beans soaked, sprouted and planted.
Both bean varieties are Heirlooms that we have been growing and saving for the past couple of years.
Calypso Bean Sprout

October Bean Sprout
All beans were started and soaked at the same time,  but October Beans definitely get the fastest sprouting award... These guys sprouted within 24 hours..
The Rattlesnake Beans have been the slowest to germinate..Taking their own sweet time!
Rattlesnake Beans are climbers, and will be planted to eventually grow up the old bed frame tower.
